Cointreau is an orange liqueur, produced since 1849 in Angers, France. Distilled with a combination of sweet and bitter orange peel to produce a crystal-clear spirit, it possesses a unique complexity. In 1948, Dallas socialite Margarita Sames originally created what we now know as the Margarita. Whilst vacationing in Acapulco, Margarita mixed her two favourite spirits, cointreau and tequila, together with lime juice, giving birth to the infamous Margarita.
